Samsung SDI Assurance Completed to AA1000AS
July 2006 saw the release of Samsung SDI's third Sustainability Report which, for the first time, was assured by Sd3 with local partners, BSI Korea to international sustainability assurance standard AA1000AS.
Samsung SDI is widely seen as a sustainability leader in Korea and wanted to be held to the highest international standards through the assurance process.
The assurance covered the entire ICT sustainability agenda including management systems and activities at company sites in Korea. Sd3 worked
closely with BSI Korea whose personnel worked under Sd3's supervision to create a bi-lingual team with the highest level of assurance
competencies. The assurance followed the AA1000AS standard, based on the following principles:
| |
Materiality: Was Samsung SDI publishing sustainability information that enabled its stakeholders to make informed judgments about the company's management and performance? |
| |
Completeness: Were the reporting systems sufficiently well developed to deliver the required information? |
| |
Responsiveness:
Had Samsung SDI responded appropriately to the expectations
and perceptions of its stakeholders? Is each material issue
being covered adequately? |
Additionally, Sd3 checked the Report's GRI index to confirm it accurately referenced GRI reporting guideline indicators. Samsung SDI specialises in Plasma and LCD screens and energy supplies, such as batteries and fuel cells.
