Our Team

Sd3 retains a core team of seven full-time sustainability expert advisors as well as administrative support. All advisers are trained to Masters level and most have at least five years professional sustainable development experience. Where specific projects require specialist or additional skills clients can benefit from our extensive network of experienced associates.

Core team

Dave Knight
Dave specialises in corporate sustainability management with a particular interest in producer responsibility and linking sustainability to brand, reputation and communications strategies. Dave’s chapter on environmental sustainability for the Work Foundation’s corporate social responsibility manual adds to his body of articles on business sustainability and corporate social responsibility published mainly in corporate publications. Dave is a Director and co-founder of Sd3 Ltd.

Jason Perks
Jason specialises in devising and developing corporate sustainability strategies; sustainability communications and NGO, business and government partnerships. His extensive reporting experience including Europe's first Automotive Sustainability Report and the world's first Sector Sustainability report following the GRI guidelines. Jason is a Director and co-founder of Sd3 Ltd.

Daniel Holmes
A versatile sustainability professional, Dan has a long-term interest in the environmental field. While specialising in corporate environmental and sustainability reporting, He is familiar with most aspects of strategic sustainability consultancy and has worked with Sd3 since its foundation, Dan has recently joined Jason and Dave as a Director.

Ian Buckland
Ian has over ten years of strategic environmental and later sustainability consultancy with major UK organisations. While much of it has resulted in the development of annual sustainability reports, he has also had work published by the Centre for Tomorrow’s Company and various practitioner journals. Ian is a Senior Advisor for Sd3.

Alex Nichols
Alex has more than eight years’ experience advising on social responsibility, local development and the social economy and environmental best practice to diverse organisations. Alex trained in environmental assessment and management, is fluent in French, and has managed successful industrial and NGO projects in the UK and abroad. He is a Senior Sustainability Advisor with Sd3.

Duncan Gordon
Duncan specialises in the field of sustainability- with a particular interest in sustainable business strategy and risk analysis- after originally developing his commercial acumen and management skills within Boots Plc. Duncan is experienced in numerous change management techniques, for example he is a trained coach and facilitator. Duncan is a Sustainability Advisor with Sd3.

James Anderson
Formerly Director of Business Sustainability & Climate Change at Hyder Consulting, James' arrival at Sd3 has expanded its advisory services to offer climate change solutions. James has 24 years of environmental experience including 10 years specialist climate change experience. He has advised the United Nations, European Commission, the UK, Japanese and South Korean Governments in developing policy and legislation on climate change and emissions trading.

Sharmel Jehangir Ali
Sharmel joined Sd3 in June 2007 as a Sustainability Advisor and brings with him particular interests in business sustainability strategy and sustainable development in emerging economies. Prior to Sd3, Sharmel had four years commercial experience with Citigroup and Carphone Warehouse Plc. At Citigroup Malaysia he managed large client loan accounts, while at Carphone Warehouse his various roles included staff development and performance management. He has an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London where he specialised in Business and Sustainability. Sharmel is fluent in Malay.

Sini Forssell
Sini has a background in communications and joined Sd3 in July 2007 as a Sustainability Advisor. Prior to Sd3, Sini worked at Finland's leading social and sustainability communications agency, Toukokuu, where her work included the creative planning and project management of various campaigns. She has also worked promoting Fair Trade and as a freelance corporate publications writer. Sini has wide international experience and is fluent in Finnish and Swedish and is proficient in French.

Olivia Watson
Olivia is an Advisor with Sd3 ClimateEnergy. She brings with her previous experience of corporate responsibility and governance research on behalf of institutional investors, including research on the risks presented by climate change and relevant opportunities for investor engagement. She previously worked in the area of international development with Oxfam America. Olivia has an MSc in Environmental Policy from the London School of Economics.

Uju Maduforo
Uju has a background in accounting and administration and joined Sd3 as Office Manager in June 2007. Uju has over 6 years experience in finance and strategic level administration in the private, public and NGO sectors, and has responsibility for managing the accounts, office functions and processes of Sd3 in the UK. In addition to work and voluntary interests, she is studying towards completion of a professional accountancy qualification.

Collaborations

Sd3 works in partnership with a number of other organisations including Greek House and Parsons Brinkerhoff.
